There are many attributes of the Salt Lake City Public Library that exemplify socio-political equity and sustainability infrastructure. In this presentation we will explore the City Library’s commitment to these values by describing our system-wide seed-lending program as well as The Plot Community Garden, a lively green space where patrons and staff alike can share the wonder and practical reality of growing food. Seed libraries and gardens are essential community resources that have come to the forefront of conversations about climate change, community resilience and food justice. Learn what it takes to start your own seed library and community garden in addition to fostering a culture of ecological literacy at your library.
