Learn about an instruction librarian and a freshman writing instructor’s collaborative work over the course of three semesters and the results of their research. While there is obvious overlap between the ACRL Framework and the WPA (Council of Writing Program Administration) for first-year students standards, first-year writing teachers and instruction librarians continue to teach in isolation, the librarian relegated to a small, often one-shot lesson. Discover how a librarian and writing instructor, frustrated by this disconnect, collaborated to develop a rubric, lesson plans, and a unit assignment that integrates both standards for a more holistic approach to information literacy instruction.
