There are expectations that have infiltrated our work as information professionals that can emotionally and morally hurt us. Our discussion session will identify, critically examine, and provide some advice for the psychological injuries and trauma associated with the librarian profession. This includes confrontations with disruptive patrons, compassion fatigue from helping patrons in crisis, politically motivated attacks, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. Our session hopes to create safety to discuss this aspect of our work, provide advice on how we can heal, and find comfort in knowing we are not alone.
